Do you offer samples?

Can HAY! Straws® and stir sticks be used in hot beverages?

Yes, Hay! Straws can be used in hot and cold beverages, and unlike paper, they don't get soggy. Straw is naturally water-resistant, so it holds up well in liquids over time.

What product food safety tests to you have?

HAY! Straws Original wheat stem straws and Jumbo reed stem straws have undergone food contact and overall migration testing in compliance with European Commission Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011. They do not contain harmful chemicals, heavy metals, or contaminants. Additionally, we have independently lab-tested for glyphosate and PFAS (forever chemicals) and can confirm that they do not contain any of these additives. Our bamboo cutlery has also been independently lab-tested for PFAS (forever chemicals) and is free of these as well.

What certifications does HAY! Straws have?

Our Original Hay! Straws® Straws are certified compostable by theBiodegradable Products InstituteBPI. Our Jumbo reed stem drinking straws and bamboo cutlery are certified by the USDA BioPreffered Program as 99-100% Biobased.

How do I dispose of HAY! Straws® and cutlery?

Our straws and bamboo cutlery are 100% natural and do not contain any coatings or waxes. They can be placed in backyard compost bins or can be composted through municipal facilities by placing them in a food scraps or compostable bin. Essentially, it's like putting hay or straw in the compost. Our Original straws take just 42 days to compost!
